Possible molecular explanation for Schizophrenia found

“Schizophrenia has only been recognised as a medical condition in the last few decades and surprisingly little is known about it. 

There are no objective tests for the condition so its diagnosis is based on an assortment of reported symptoms. The standard treatment of antipsychotic medication only works for less than half of patients and becomes increasingly ineffective over time. 

However, researchers from Sackler Faculty of Medicine and Tel Aviv University have discovered that an important cell-maintenance process, called autophagy, is reduced in the brains of those with schizophrenia.”
